Salford’s Social Value Alliance emerged from a cross-sector group of activists and organisations across the city, seeking to use social value to make a real difference for Salford and its residents. In November 2017 the Alliance launched The 10% Better Campaign which was all about tackling inequality and poverty in Salford and improving the wellbeing and quality of life for the people of Salford.
Membership of the Social Value Alliance is open to all voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, private businesses and public sector organisations operating within the City of Salford who meet the following membership criteria:
• Operate in Salford
• Have an ongoing commitment to Social Value, and willing to deliver one or more of the 10% better social value objectives
• Willing to be an active membership of the Alliance (through the provision of two case studies per year and or attendance at alliance events)
• Adherence to the principles and values of the alliance

Examples of how the fund has been used include recent provision of small grants for Salford Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector organisations to assist residents with the cost of living crisis. In addition, it has been used to raise monies in memoriam of Salford colleagues. See the example: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/S4G-CostofLiving
Salford 4 Good also enables personal donors to add Gift Aid, increasing the value of their donation by 25%. The distribution of funds to VCSE organisations undertaking priority work, is decided in partnership with key stakeholder or donor organisations
