Social Value Alliance Steering Group Terms of Reference

1. Vision

The Vision is to make Salford a Social Value City.

3. Aim

The aim of the Social Value Alliance is to achieve the most social, environmental and economic value for communities in Salford.

  • Optimising the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of Salford and its people in everything that we do
  • Thinking long term – turning investment into long lasting outcomes
  • Working together across sectors to provide social value outcomes
  • Having a clear and current understanding of how Social Value can make Salford a better place

7. Membership

Membership of the Social Value Alliance is open to all voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, private businesses and public sector organisations operating within the City of Salford who meet the membership criteria

Membership of the Social Value Alliance Steering Group will include representatives from the public sector, VCSE Sector and Private Sector.

2. Purpose

The purpose of the Social Value Alliance is to bring together the public sector, private sector and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector to work together to make a difference to local communities through the creation of Social Value in Salford.

4. Objectives

To deliver the “Making Salford Better“ campaign which encourages social value through

  • More people volunteering in high quality volunteering opportunities
  • More Salford People with good wellbeing
  • More people in Salford who are digitally included
  • Less Waste, more recycling and re-use
  • Less carbon emissions
  • More use and care of green and blue spaces
  • More employers paying the Living Wage Foundation “Real Living Wage”
  • More Salford people who are in employment, education and training
  • More purchasing from Salford based companies

8. Meeting Arrangements

 Frequency

The Salford Social Value Alliance meetings are every 6 months and the Steering Group are held bi monthly.

Organisation and Facilitation

Salford CVS with the support of the Social Value Steering Group organise the Salford Social Value Alliance membership events and facilitate the Social Value Alliance Steering Group meetings.

Chaired By

Salford CVS or an Alliance Steering Group member who is selected to carry out the role chairs the Social Value Alliance Membership Events  and Steering Group meetings

Generation of Agenda Items

Members of the steering group with the support of Salford CVS will generate agenda items.

Circulation of Papers

Minutes and action logs from meetings of the Social Value Alliance Steering Group will be circulated within 2 weeks of the meeting and further papers needed to prepare for the subsequent meeting will be circulated 1 weeks prior to the meeting.

Alliance event reports will be circulated to attendees 2 weeks following the event.
